Containing over 5.5 miles of explored and mapped passageways, Raccoon Mountain Caverns are a refuge from summer heat, maintaining a year-round temperature of 60 degrees. The caverns are located immediately west of Chattanooga, in the Black Creek area of Lookout Valley. Offering visitors tours of the cave system and a chance to pan for gemstones, the caverns contain fossils of bryozoans, coral, crinoids, and echinoderms.
Open daily, year round Memorial Day - Labor Day: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Rest of year: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
